What Is VIP?
Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide originally isolated from porcine intestine but now known to be widely distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems. It belongs to the secretin/glucagon superfamily and signals through VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors.
